Kona: A Cozy Coffee Corner in the Deli Store

A Unique and Inviting Design

Inspired by lotus flowers and tree branches, the Kona coffee corner by Vadim Korovin and Dmitry Korovin creates a cozy and inviting space within the vast hall of a deli store. With its circular shape and bending elements reminiscent of a lotus flower, this design stands out as a unique and attractive addition to any retail space.

The Kona coffee corner is a one-of-a-kind creation that offers customers a secluded spot to enjoy a cup of coffee amidst the hustle and bustle of a busy store. Despite the absence of walls, the design creates a sense of being inside a sheltered space, providing a peaceful retreat for coffee lovers.

One of the key strengths of the Kona coffee corner is its ability to save valuable retail space. The circular-segment shape allows for efficient utilization of the area, ensuring that the display of goods is not compromised. The design also features a natural veneer finish, adding a touch of classical elegance to the overall aesthetic.

The Kona coffee corner is made using a combination of materials and technologies. The main components are crafted from MDF and cut using CNC technology. The surfaces are then veneered with ash and finished with colored wood wax. Metal panels, coated with powder, add a modern and sleek touch to the design.

With dimensions of 2300mm (Width) x 2300mm (Depth) x 2500mm (Height), the Kona coffee corner provides ample space for customers to relax and enjoy their beverages. The column, which serves as a focal point, measures 600mm (Width) x 600mm (Depth) x 3100mm (Height).

The Kona coffee corner was designed and realized in Tyumen, Russia, with the project taking approximately four weeks to complete. The inspiration for this design came from the increasing demand for in-store coffee consumption. Customers expressed a desire to try baked goods and confectionery products alongside their coffee or tea, creating the need for a dedicated space within the store.

The Kona coffee corner overcame the challenge of providing a comfortable and inviting space while minimizing the use of valuable retail area. By incorporating elements inspired by lotus flowers and tree branches, the design successfully creates a friendly and soft ambiance that appeals to customers.

The Kona coffee corner has received recognition for its exceptional design. In 2015, it was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award recognizes designs that are well-designed, practical, and innovative, meeting professional and industrial requirements.
